Birthday Card and Sewing

 Hello and happy Monday

I hope you are all keeping well and not stressing too much now that Christmas is nearly upon us. I refuse to get stressed and have made more Christmas cards but today's card is a birthday card for a friend

I wasn't sure I'd ever get inspiration to make this - Seems I can only concentrate on one theme at a time and I was busy making Christmas cards, some of which feature a mushroom ( still to be shared with you) so I decided to sketch one for a birthday card too.

I had the glossy stuff out so my mushroom got a good dose of that too. So glad I got this done as her birthday is on Thursday. The flowers were all fussy cut from a piece of DP by the way.

Thank you for all your lovely comments and messages, I really appreciate hearing from you all and you always make me feel happy. I've encountered a few problem posting comments back to you... Blogger seems okay with a one liner but anything more it hesitates.

Some of you asked me to share a little of my sewing... Well I never realised how difficult photographing clothes is but I managed a couple.
Please don't expect miracles, I do a lot of things but I wouldn't say I was perfect at anything

Here's a top I made

It does look better on and it was my first time using scuba fabric which was a lesson in itself

And my last make was a pinafore dress

I got the fabric at a bargain price, it's needlecord but it was quite lightweight so I double up on the fabric and lined it too. What a headache I gave myself but in the end I was quite pleased. I've always wanted a pinafore dress and considering it only cost me about £6 plus the lining well, what can I say.
I don't have patterns either... I take a lot of ideas and things from pinterest, bless those who share

Okay that's me for today... I'm off to class soon to stretch my joints.
Have a lovely week and take care

Till next time

~ Ros ~

Very pretty card, she will love it!! Your sewing items look fabulous, no pattern, wow, no way could I do that and I have been sewing for years! You are good at so many things!!! Yes, my DH is a baby when he is not feeling well, we will see how his appointment goes on Wednesday as he is to leave for four days on Thursday on a guy fishing trip ( he has yet to take a pole..hah!)
But I will have 4 days of peace and quiet, just me and the dog and cats and I can do whatever I want!! Take care my friend!!

What a very pretty card with the sweet mushroom, so shiny too, and the scattering of beautiful cut out flowers and the twiggy branch and silver pearls and little gem centes to the flowers are great finishing touches..a wonderful sentiment too. The top and pinafore dress are both brilliantly made and you obviously have an eye for shape and design, especially with the central panel of the top which makes it really individual. x

LOVE this card and the design is fabulous ... she's going to LOVE it! I know I do!! WOW look at you go with making your own clothing items. I'd be lucky to pull this off WITH a pattern let alone without one! You are amazing my friend!!
All good here in Ohio, USA ... did my 1 of 2 craft shows last Saturday and second one comes this Saturday so I'm keeping busy. Our weather this week is AMAZING and to plummet next week so I'd best finalize my outside work (cleaning flower beds, covering deck furniture, etc) before the snow flies. Thanks for always sharing such amazing inspiration! BIG HUGS

You are multi-talented Ros! Your beautiful mushroom birthday card for your friend is so sweet! I love the soft colours of gray and pink together. What a special card! Your sewing looks perfect to me. What do you mean no pattern??!! Even with a pattern, I have always failed with sewing. I've always admire those that can sew. Thank you for sharing two of your fabulous makes. xx

Ros what a wonderful card, I love all the layers around your mushroom ♥

I'm planning on pulling out my sewing machine, not for me but to make the dogs some waterproof coats. Wet Golden Retrievers are really stinky and take forever to dry. The fabric is pretty expensive, so awesome you had such a good deal on yours. Love the pinafore dress, do you want to make another for me :)

The sweetest pretty card Ros, love your layers and the soft colours.... AND wow you have been busy with the sewing machine...no patterns oh my -- fabulous work, and always nice to have new clothes. We've been decluttering this week and I've unearthed a huge box of pattern (which won't fit me now) and some lovely fabric, so maybe I'll have a new dress for Christmas, thanks for inspiring me - I'll let you know if I get it made, hugs Robyn

First of all, I want to say your sewing is beautiful and I love your style! If those clothes fit your figure, then you must be a very shapely lady! I sewed a lot of my own clothes until stamping took over my sewing room years ago. Since then the only thing I've sewn is a few masks in 2020, sheesh. Your card is so very lovey with the darling mushroom growing under a magnolia tree. Love all the white with the gold embossed sentiment. Mushrooms are good for any card, any occasion. I adore them!

I can't imagine sewing without a pattern, Ros! I am truly impressed and love your top and pinafore! Your mushroom that's beautifully frames! The flowers drifting around it add even more whimsey!

Your mushroom birthday card is so pretty, Ros! Love the soft pink and gray with metallic heat-embossing! Wonderful design, as always.
Thank you for sharing your sewing! (I was curious to see it.) The scuba fabric top has cool animal pattern. I love it! The pinafore dress looks so comfy to wear. It's amazing that you made these without patterns!!

Beautiful card Ros, love your design with all the layers, and your colour palette is so soft and pretty. Wow, thanks for sharing your sewing projects, and to think you made this without a pattern - fantastic! I have sewn for years, started when I was around 10, Mom teached me, and I continued to sew for many many years later, made my daughter a lot of her clothes when she was young, as well as my own, but that seemed to changed about 15 years ago. I do made the odd thing but not like I use to. Love your pinafore dress! Hope you had a good workout stretching your joints. Hope your feeling better as well. Take care Ros,

I absolutely love the grey and subtle pink on this card - your friend must have adored it!
I'm no less than in awe of your sewing skills... while I might get things done in the crocheting and knitting departments if I put my mind to it, I have given up on sewing long ago. Kudos to you!
